From Steve Ayers:

Today is the day I begin the 2007 walk in Sault Sainte marie,MI.I am ready to stay on the street until we raise our monetary goal and until the New Mexico Legislator passes Taegan's Law.
I know this has nothing to do with Honoring our fallen but it does have a lot to do with everything I have said over the past few months. Defend those who can not defend themselves. I know my Brothers would flock to help her so today we will carry her cause upon our shoulders.
SO call the New Mexico Governor and tell Bill that Steve Ayers will walk until either Taegan's Law is passed our until I drop and then I will get up and walk some more.
I am not just trying to be a hero, I hate being called a hero but I am trying to use what little power I have for good.
So let's contribute to one or both of these causes, one is mine and one is all of ours. The protection of our children is a moral responsibility. If we allow criminals to hurt or kill them we are allowing our future to be destroyed. I am not a man who has shown a lot of emotion since Beirut but when I heard the story of Taegan I was moved and all I could think of was one of my grandchildren.
So today while I walk alone please send your blessings to these causes.
Send Bill Richardson's Myspace people a polite request to answer to why the his great state is not working quicker to pass this law and then contact your own state and see what you can do to pass laws there as well.
Now another bill I am supporting today, HR 1324, this bill wishes to designate a part of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps as a terror group and one of the justifications is they backed the bombing of the Marine Barracks in Beirut 1983. So call your congressman and ask him/her to support this bill.
Ok well it is closer to the time for me to get ready to walk. So again I ask that you support these causes and please subscribe to my blog so you can keep up to date with the walk and our goals.
Peace,
Steve
